Garage Epoxy Floors –The Installation

Our garage floors installation consists of basically three steps – concrete preparation, base coat and flakes/chips and the final stage.

The first stage of installing Epoxy floors in San Diego or Las Vegas is of the concrete preparation. This is the fundamental step for the installation of the garage floors. We need to be cautious while preparing the concrete so that it is ready to accept adhesion from the epoxy floor coating. Even if our clients wish to opt for any other kind of coating – polyurea or urethane, we use a heavy duty diamond-head grinning machine to prepare the concrete. It is used to make the concrete rough and thus guarantees dead-on adhesion.

Second step involved in the installation of the garage Epoxy floors is base coats and flakes. Colored vinyl chips/flakes are broadcasted into the base coat of Epoxy, once it is applied. Some companies prefer to use these garage floorings as a solid color but we do not take any chances. Epoxy is a well known name for garage flooring and is used as an effective material to coat garages. It has got strong adhesive properties and its durability factor lures many people.

The last step involves the final stages in the process of Epoxy garage floor installation. After the base coat application, two coats of clear gloss are applied on the floor. Normally, we use two-part Epoxy clear-coat and afterwards a two-part UV-protected urethane. The former is used to build-up the coating and the latter protects it from sunlight. This way, the inner coating remains protected from being damaged. The urethane is also enormously resistant to abrasion and thus adds to the quality of the garage floors.
